Recognising the variable quality of mushroom supplements and raw materials on the US market and unreliability of much of the available information about them Pure Mushrooms was founded by Martin Powell and Andy Miller, two mycophiles with over 60 years' experience between them growing, sourcing and prescribing medicinal mushrooms.
Martin Powell is a biochemist, Chinese herbalist, and lecturer. He is the author Medicinal Mushrooms - A Clinical Guide (3rd edition 2022) and Medicinal Mushrooms - The Essential Guide (2013) as well as editor of The Mushroom magazine and creator of the MycoNutri range of professional mushroom supplements. Speaking Chinese he has extensive knowledge of the Chinese mushroom industry gained through his time there and personal contacts and is also passionate about helping educate people about medicinal mushrooms, information on which can be found on his website www.martinpowell.net
Andrew Miller has been involved with growing medicinal mushrooms in the USA for over 30 years and in 1992 created the first US-produced range of professional mushroom products under the MycoHerb brand. He also has over 20 years' experience as a consultant to leading nutraceutical companies helping them incorporate mushrooms into their product lines and source raw materials for them.
